The Memorial Cricket Match

Cleeve Prior Memorial Cricket Match

We are pleased to announce that Upper Cleeve were the winners of the Ernest Cooke Trophy in this year’s Village Cricket Match. We were again fortunate with the weather, and as in past years, the whole village turned out for this quintessential British afternoon. The teams, whose ages ranged from 14 to 72, put on a superb spectacle & both teams gave a fantastic display of fielding, with diving catches & balls simply plucked out of the air.

It was a village affair & the organisers wish to thank all who took part, those who prepared the pitch & the tents, but more importantly all those who came out to watch & to support their teams.

The trophy will now sit behind the bar in the Kings Arms until next year’s nail biting Challenge.

We look forward to seeing you then.
